I know people often compare the Provos to the Mafia, but this is getting ridiculous. Last Tuesday’s meeting of Belfast Corporation saw a co-option to fill the vacancy in Oldpark ward left by Carál Ní Chuilín’s decision to concentrate on Stormont. The newly co-opted councillor is 29-year-old Conor Maskey. For the record, our latest city father’s elevation was proposed by Cllr Alex Maskey and seconded by Cllr Paul Maskey. No doubt young Conor is pleased to have two uncles already on the council. For the rest of us who don’t belong to the Maskey family, we can only contemplate nationalist Belfast taking on an ever more Albanian cast.
